Look through the book's table of contents of chapters 22-32, our topics for the E&M course;

Finally, read chapter 22 as an intro to electricity;  Think about what charge really is?

Look over chapter 22 with your groups, discussing any confusions and your experiences with charge from previous courses.

Then, start reading chapter 27, which lays foundation for studying current and circuits;

Useful tip:  learn E = (ro)J as the local (microscopic) version of V = IR, which describes the overall macro behavior in a circuit element.

Tu 2

Finish Reading Ch. 27 (all)

A57:  Ch. 27 13-17, 20, 21

 Discuss Chapter 27 in groups, focusing on the following questions:

    * what is the difference between resistivity and resistance?

    * does copper have a resistance or resistivity?

    * what is the difference/relationship between resistivity and conductivity?

Next, you may go over homework;  if everyone in your group understands, you may go on with the next HW.

W 3

A58: Ch. 27 23, 31-37odd, 40

plus Ch. 27 MC Worksheet

Start working on "Some Circuits Class Examples" sheet as group classwork over next few days.

 SJ on leave

Th 4

Read Ch. 28 (sect. 1-7, not RC)

A59:  Ch. 28 3-6, 10, 18, 19

 Discuss Chapter 28 in groups, and keep working on circuits.

 SJ on leave

F 5

A60:  Ch. 28 25-28, 31, 32 plus Supplementary Circuits #1 worksheet problems

 First Quiz on Resistance (ch. 27) and some resistor circuits (ch. 28)

NOTE: THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE NOT UPDATED

Tu 9

Read Section 28-8
Finish A62 "RC Circuits Discovery"
plus Play with RC Applets such as
http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/java/rc/rc.html or
http://ephysics.physics.ucla.edu/
ntnujava/rc/erc_circuits.htm

 and find at least one other good applet

 Review RC circuits answers and ideas in groups.

SJ on leave

W 10

 A63: Ch. 28 44-47, 51, 53

 Review RC circuits answers and ideas in groups.

SJ on leave

Th 11

 A64: RC Circuits MC sheet (83-95)

 Review RC circuits answers and ideas in groups.

SJ on leave

F 12

 AP8:  AP Practice on RC Circuits

(3 problems)

Go over AP8 together in groups - these are not simple, you have to go back to your circuits knowledge and puzzle through the solutions.

 AP9:  February Break Mechanics AP Practice - take these in simulated test environment with calculator and AP equation sheet, 15 minutes each.  This is critical preparation for the AP exam, which is coming right up!

 Hello Again...  (pass in AP9)

Where are you?

What do you need help with?

Go over 1st Circuits Quiz - resistor circuits overview

  You've got this week to take yourself from wherever you are to mastery of circuits.

Tu 23

Quick RC quiz (10 min);

If you have two identical wires of different lengths, what quantities do and do not change?

Look at circuit class examples briefly

Start on RC circuits, using "Discovery" sheet

W 24

 Make sure you have finished A63 and A64 (or go over them if you did them long ago);

Correct all circuits work using the Ch2728 file below.

Identify your remaining confusions

 Math Test!!

Th 25

 Finish (or revisit) AP8, AP Practice on RC circuits.  There are some challenging and subtle circuits work to do here.  Work on them!

 Continue notes on RC charging and discharging;

Pass back and go over Tuesday's Quiz;

F 26

Review all circuits for Final Circuits Test;  Test will assess Ch. 27 ideas, resistor circuits, and RC circuits.

Verify that all assignments A52-A64 are completed, corrected and filed correctly.  Also make sure AP1-9 are in the AP section.

 Go over AP8

 Tuesday: Final Circuits Quiz - including RC;

Binders will be checked Tuesday.

We'll be taking final questions and then looking at E&M overview monday.
